About
Each year, the University of Southern California and the University of California, Los Angeles, organize World Health Day LA, a community-wide global health event that wraps up the annual Global Health Awareness Week at USC. The event takes place on or around April 7, the date of the World Health Organization's annual World Health Day, which marks its establishment in 1948.
Coordinated by the USC Institute for Global Health with assistance from the Global Health Review, student volunteers from the three LA universities form committees to organize the event's entertainment, family-friendly activities and health screenings–all of which are available for free to the community.
World Health Day LA welcomes volunteers, youth groups and health organizations to get involved. Food, beverage and equipment donations are also greatly appreciated. For inquiries, please email global.health@usc.edu or call (323) 865-0419.
Last year's event, World Health Day LA 2012, took place April 7, 2012, at the Los Angeles Expo Center. In honor of the upcoming 2012 Olympic games, the event featured sports stations such as soccer, archery, dancing, football and much more for the community to enjoy.
