  The result of four-year testing and adaptation process involving strong collaboration with the Program on International Health and Human Rights and other institutions in different parts of the world. This publication contains six core modules covering gender and ethical issues in research policy and how to influence change, and health systems. Meeting Reports

• The Pregnancy Intentions of HIV-Positive Women: Forwarding the Research Agenda (PDF)
  A report issued by the Program on International Health and Human Rights proposes a new research agenda to address the sexual and reproductive health and rights of HIV-positive women. "The Pregnancy Intentions of HIV-Positive Women: Forwarding the Research Agenda" identifies key gaps in current knowledge and urges a multi-disciplinary approach to support HIV-positive women in staying healthy and shaping their families. The report stems from a conference convened in March 2010 at the Harvard School of Public Health, with support from the World Health Organization, the Group on Reproductive Health and Rights at the Harvard Center for Population and Development Studies, the David Rockefeller Center for Latin American Studies, the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation, and the US National Institutes of Health (NIH).

  Sex, Lies & Stereotypes, is a report based upon recommendations arising from an expert roundtable held at Harvard Law School in September 2006. The roundtable "Teaching Only Abstinence: Consequences for Girls and Society" was organized by the author of the report, Julie F. Kay, senior staff attorney in Legal Momentum's Sexuality and Family Rights Program, in partnership with the Harvard Law School Human Rights Program and the Program on International Health and Human Rights at the Harvard School of Public Health.
• Health and Human Rights in Academic Settings
  PIHHR, in collaboration with The University of New South Wales' Initiative for Health and Human Rights, hosted a one-day meeting titled, "Health and Human Rights in Academic Settings" bringing together Health and Human Rights Educators from all over the world.

  Gender Based Violence and HIV/AIDS Meeting: Bringing Together Research, Policy, Programming and Advocacy meeting report. This meeting was jointly convened in August 2006 by PIHHR and the Center for Women's Global Leadership at Rutger's University.
• UNAIDS Reference Group on HIV and Human Rights
  The UNAIDS Reference Group on HIV and Human Rights is an independent, advisory body, established in 2002 to advise the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS) on all matters relating to HIV and human rights. PIHHR Director Sofia Gruskin served as Chair of the Group from its inception until 2006, with PIHHR serving as the Secretariat during this time. Prof. Gruskin remains a member of the Reference Group today.

Professional Blog Contributions

• Where are the sexual and reproductive health and rights of HIV-positive women on the global health agenda?
  Prof. Gruskin and Sarah MacCarthy, a doctoral candidate working with PIHHR, contributed to the Global Health blog expressing concern that, despite renewed interest in maternal and infant health at the global level, the specific needs and rights of HIV-positive women before, during, and after pregnancy are largely being left out of the discussion. This follows work begun at the conference hosted by the PIHHR, entitled: "The Pregnancy Intentions of HIV-Positive Women: Forwarding the Research Agenda" (PDF).
• Group raises awareness of forced sterilization among HIV positive women
  Prof. Gruskin, director of the Program on International Health and Human Rights (PIHHR) and Faculty Chair of the Group on Reproductive Health and Rights (GRHR), and Sarah MacCarthy, a doctoral candidate working at the PIHHR and coordinating the GRHR, contributed to the Science Speaks: HIV & TB blog following the conference hosted by the PIHHR, entitled: "The Pregnancy Intentions of HIV-Positive Women: Forwarding the Research Agenda" (PDF). They highlight the critical need to promote and protect HIV-positive women's reproductive and sexual rights, in order to stop forced sterilizations of HIV-positive women from happening, but also in relation to desired pregnancy, childbearing and abortion.

  Prof. Gruskin and Sarah MacCarthy, a doctoral candidate working at PIHHR, contributed to the RH Reality Check blog following the conference hosted by the PIHHR, entitled: "The Pregnancy Intentions of HIV-Positive Women: Forwarding the Research Agenda" (PDF). They advocate for a stronger evidence base to promote and protect the reproductive and sexual rights of women living with HIV.
