Professor Sofia Gruskin, director of the Program on Global Health and Human Rights (GHHR), and Assistant Professor Laura Ferguson traveled to Geneva to further their work on the World Health Organization project, “Evidence of Impact of a Human Rights-Based Approach on Women’s and Children’s Health.”
The project is based on the idea that the relatively well-known normative claims of a human rights-based approach to women’s and children’s health would be greatly reinforced by compelling evidence of the beneficial impacts on health of such an approach. It aims to review the existing evidence of the impact of a human rights-based approach for both women’s health and children’s health. The culmination of the project will be a WHO monograph that outlines the findings. Both Professor Gruskin and Dr. Ferguson have played an integral role in the conceptualization and realization of this important project.
