Human Rights Council briefing in Geneva addresses child mortality

Dr. Laura Ferguson served as a panelist for a consultation with governments on the Technical Guidance on the application of a human rights-based approach to the implementation of policies and programmes to reduce and eliminate preventable mortality and morbidity of children under 5 years of age. The guidance is being developed by the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) at the request of the United Nation Human Rights Council. There were 39 government delegations in attendance for the consultation. Fellow panelists included representatives from OHCHR, the WHO, a member of the Committee on the Rights of the Child, and civil society representatives.
