Leading scholars and practitioners working at the intersection of sexuality, health, human rights, international relations and development, came together at the workshop “Orientations and Identities: Sexuality and Human Rights on the Global Stage” May 28-30, 2014, to form the basis for the development of global research in this area. The workshop was hosted by the Program on Global Health & Human Rights at the USC Institute for Global Health and Department of Preventive Medicine, along with the following groups: La Trobe University in Australia; the University of California, Los Angeles, Williams Institute, Health and Human Rights Law Project, School of Law, and Burkle Center for International Relations; the Occidental College Young Fund Initiative; and the University of California, Irvine, School of Law. It included a number of side events such as the City of West Hollywood’s “Sexuality and Human Rights on the Global Stage” Human Rights Speaker Series event.
