USC Program on Global Health & Human Rights Professors Sofia Gruskin and Laura Ferguson attended the 2014 International AIDS Conference held this month in Melbourne, Australia. Bringing together more than 12,000 delegates from all over the world, the International AIDS Conference is the premier gathering for those working in the field of HIV, as well as policymakers, people living with HIV and other individuals committed to ending the pandemic. Gruskin and Ferguson were both integral members of the Track D committee, which focuses on social and political research, law, policy and human rights. As a Track D committee member, Gruskin helped prepare the conference program from the initial planning stage through to finalizing the content. She was involved with all sessions relevant to Track D, and was co-chair for the session on “Critical Justice: Human Rights, Legal Issues and HIV.” Ferguson served as an assistant rapporteur for the committee, providing official summaries for individual sessions relevant to human rights and law, and supporting the production of daily summaries of Track D content. The Track D rapporteurs report was presented on the final day of the conference and will feed into the final conference report. Watch the presentation »
