Professor Sofia Gruskin delivered a talk this month at the first annual Southern California LGBT Health Conference, hosted at the USC Health Sciences Campus. Made up primarily of medical students from universities across southern California, the audience had significant interest in training on issues surrounding LGBT policy with a global focus. Professor Gruskin’s lecture focused on global health perspectives around the evolution of sexual rights and the international classification of diseases (the ICD). The talk concluded by addressing the immediate and long term impacts of the politics involved in moving forward rights in sexual and reproductive health work, as well as efforts to address current capacity.
