Dr. Laura Ferguson recently returned from Kenya, where she was disseminating the findings of her Zumberge-funded research assessing the acceptability of a new policy on the prevention of mother-to-child transmission of HIV (PMTCT) that was being pilot tested in two hospitals in Kenya. Based on interviews with PMTCT clients and health workers, the findings are being used to help strengthen service delivery in the study hospitals and to inform the national roll-out of the policy in Kenya. Dr. Ferguson met with a range of policy makers and health managers, disseminated policy briefs based on the study findings and began exploring the potential for additional work in this area.
