Professor Sofia Gruskin delivered a talk entitled “Reproductive and Sexual Rights: Changing Perspectives from Cairo & Beijing (1990s) to Transgender Population & the International Classification of Diseases (2015),” at Occidental College, a lecture also delivered earlier this year at Harvard University. Using the upcoming revisions of the International Classification of Diseases (ICD-10) as an example, Professor Gruskin discussed the harms of the classification of transgender populations in the current ICD, how this should change in the upcoming revision, and concerns for the future of sexual and reproductive health and rights more generally.
