GHHR contributes to UN human rights discussion of the right to life

Professor Sofia Gruskin and GHHR legal fellow Ian Henry submitted a contribution to the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OCHR) Secretariat in preparation for the July 14 Half-Day of General Discussion on the proposed General Comment on Article 6 (Right to Life) of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights. The contribution outlines issues for agenda-setting and concludes with a proposal to the OCHR to expand its “normative guidance on the connection between the right to life and health,” emphasizing concerns which recently surfaced in the context of Ebola as an example of emerging or continuing epidemics.
