In late July Sofia Gruskin, director of the USC Program on Global Health & Human Rights, presented at the 2016 International AIDS Conference bridging session “Removing Human Rights Barriers to HIV Prevention, Care and Treatment: Using Data to Drive Action Globally” in Durban, South Africa.
The talk, “Assessing Human Rights in HIV Responses: Challenges and Opportunities” focused on challenges and opportunities in assessing human rights in HIV responses, and how human rights can be used to address barriers to HIV prevention, care and treatment, and indicator development.
Professor Gruskin also presented the program’s abstract “Strengthening the HIV-related legal and policy environment for key populations in the Democratic Republic of the Congo” at the conference’s “legal protection of people living with HIV and key populations” track.
