At the 2016 International AIDS Conference in Durban, South Africa, USC Program on Global Health & Human Rights (GHHR) Director Sofia Gruskin presented an abstract at the “legal protection of people living with HIV and key populations” track.
The abstract, “Strengthening the HIV-related legal and policy environment for key populations in the Democratic Republic of the Congo,” builds on findings from the case study GHHR conducted in the Democratic Republic of the Congo last fall as part of the evaluation of the UNDP Project “Strengthening Regional and National Legislative Environments to Support the Enjoyment of Human Rights of LGBT People and Women and Girls Affected by HIV and AIDS in Sub-Saharan Africa.” It examines how incremental gains in policy changes and related project activities achieved to date should be acknowledged and built upon as part of the process towards generating legal change in the DRC.
