Laura Ferguson traveled to Washington D.C., in May to present initial research findings on reproductive and maternal health and human rights to the World Bank’s Health, Nutrition and Population Global Practice, the Nordic Trust Fund and the Global Financing Facility.

Her presentation, “Reproductive and Maternal Health and Human Rights: What is the Relevance for Bank Operations?” was based on ongoing work by the USC Program on Global Health & Human Rights and World Bank. In it, she analyzed the relevance of human rights to the World Bank’s portfolio of work on reproductive and maternal health, the extent to which human rights are currently addressed in efforts to monitor this portfolio and where such efforts might be strengthened.
