Experts met in New York this month following the launch of the High-Level Working Group on the Health and Human Rights of Women, Children and Adolescents report at the 70th World Health Assembly and Human Rights Council in June.

The World Health Organization and the Partnership for Maternal, Newborn & Child Health held the meeting during the United Nations General Assembly to determine implementation and monitoring activities building on the reports’ recommendations.

Professor Sofia Gruskin presented preliminary suggestions for monitoring activities and co-facilitated the meeting. The meeting brought together a range of governmental, non-governmental, academic and civil society partners to understand gaps and challenges in rights-based approaches to health to date, and concluded with an action plan to carry this work forward.
