Researchers have found police-related death rates are highest in neighborhoods with the greatest concentrations of low-income residents and residents of color. The study, published in the American Journal of Public Health Jan. 24, concludes that neighborhood context matters—beyond individual race/ethnicity—for understanding, preventing, and responding to the occurrence of police-related deaths.
