Summer 2020 IIGH led Courses in Geneva and Costa Rica Information Session

Interested in traveling abroad and being immersed in global health work around the world? The USC Institute on Inequalities in Global Health (IIGH) hosted an information session to learn more about the two IIGH led courses being offered this summer in Costa Rica and Geneva, Switzerland.

Open to graduate and professional students from all disciplines!

Geneva, Switzerland

Dates: May 17 – 29, 2020
PM 589: Global Health Governance and Diplomacy in Practice in Geneva (4 units)
Learn how health is organized and administered at the global level through exposure to the inner workings of key global health organizations. Students will be directly integrated into the World Health Assembly (WHA), the decision-making body of the World Health Organization, and will engage with diverse organizations, consortia and networks based in Geneva and engaged in global health.

Costa Rica

Dates: May 23 – June 4, 2020
PM 599: Sustainable Development & Health: Perspectives from Costa Rica (4 units)
Learn about how climate change, biodiversity loss, and development impact human and planetary health. Students will visit local health clinics, public health agencies & NGOs, the Inter- American Court of Human Rights, National Children’s Hospital, coffee and palm oil plantations, coastal mangroves, and connect with indigenous communities along the Panama border.
