Equalizing health disparities can avert more deaths than the number of lives saved by medical advances alone in the same time frame. On Feb. 23, IIGH hosted Dr. Rumi Chunara for a presentation on how data can be used to advance the science of health disparities, and why it is crucial to identifying the impact of health policy and program implementation. Dr. Rumi Chunara is an assistant professor in computer science and biostatistics/epidemiology at New York University, and leader of the Chunara Lab, which aims to develop computational and statistical approaches for acquiring, integrating and using data to improve population-level public health.
