The USC Institute for Global Health has leveraged the University of Southern California’s unique strengths and, in a short time, has advanced a broad agenda of training, capacity building, research and policy development. By drawing on USC’s passionate and dedicated faculty, physicians and students, and partnering with global-health experts across the nation and the world, the institute engages and supports the USC community in a wide range of educational programs, collaborative projects, global health grants and volunteer experiences. And it enables students and faculty to create research and training partnerships of their own to promote healthier communities worldwide.
Faculty and students across the university work through the Institute for Global Health to pursue innovative, collaborative research and service projects to combat global health challenges. The Institute aims to consolidate and expand global projects to highlight the dedication of faculty and students across the University.

The USC Institute for Global Health collaborates with APRU to coordinate the Global Health Program and annual workshop. The program seeks to foster excellence in global health research, education and university impact across universities on the Pacific Rim. Learn more »
The East Africa GEOHealth Hub is a research and training center focused on environmental and occupational health in East Africa.The project grew from a joint planning grant awarded to the University of Southern California and Addis Ababa University by the Global Environmental and Occupational Health (GEOHealth) program through the Fogarty International Center of the National Institutes of Health. - Community Awareness Events
Global health starts at home. Recognizing the disparities between awareness and action, the USC Institute for Global Health organizes events on campus and in the Los Angeles community to draw attention to public health issues both at home and abroad. For years, the institute coordinated World Health Day LA and Global Health Awareness Week for our students and neighbors.
The Institute for Global Health serves as a locus for education and training programs in global health. USC offers three degree tracks specific to global health and many minors and programs dedicated to complementary issues. Additional training opportunities are available through practicum placements in countries including Uganda and Geneva.
The USC Global Health Case Competition brings together teams of students from all disciplines to tackle a critical global health challenge. Coordinated by the USC Institute for Global Health in partnership with leading global health institutions, the annual event has developed into a popular campus-bridging fixture at USC. Learn more »
