The COVID-19 Pandemic Is Not Only a Viral Event (4th Conference)

December 9, 2021 - December 10, 2021

Free

The fourth meeting of “The COVID-19 Pandemic Is Not Only a Viral Event” will continue to discuss the new challenges for control of the pandemic. This two-day virtual conference will comprise a series of webinars that values the participation of researchers addressing the social and political determinants of SARS-COV-2 infection and COVID-19 illness, the production of social sciences, and anchors suggestions for public policy in human rights-based approaches.

On Dec. 9, U.S. and French researches will debate with Brazilian colleagues and managers working in health departments the challenges of vaccination, the impact of the pandemic on the most vulnerable populations and long COVID.

On Dec. 10, seminars will feature conversations and debates on how reproductive health promotion has been affected by COVID, implementation of testing as public policy, and prevention and comprehensive care — characterized by the mutually aggravating interaction between health problems, the socioeconomic crisis and the increase in inequality.

This international conference is hosted by the USC Keck School of Medicine and the Instituto de Estudo Avancados da Universidade de Sao Paulo. The webinar will be broadcast live with simultaneous translation; no registration required. Follow the event broadcast at http://www.iea.usp.br/aovivo. For more information, click here.
