The COVID-19 Pandemic is Not Only a Viral Event
October 25, 2021 @ 8:30 am - October 26, 2021 @ 6:30 pm
This third meeting of “The Brazilian Epidemic of COVID-19 is Not Just a Viral Event” series will highlight the new challenges for controlling a pandemic that has not ended. What are the necessary responses to the ongoing Brazilian COVID-19 epidemic and trends in the global pandemic that are expected to last many months, in synergy with other pandemics current and to come? In times of inequality in access to vaccination and comprehensive prevention, no country will emerge from this crisis alone, and the debate that adds to the international perspective is fundamental.
The program includes leaders from WHO and UNAIDS, North American researchers, Chileans, Argentines and in addition to researchers and Brazilian community leaders who will analyze the impact of the denial culture and the production of ignorance and the pandemic trends that express the synergy from the health crisis to the social crisis produced by the increase in inequality.
As part of this international conference, USC IIGH Director Sofia Gruskin will be a featured panelist for the Oct. 25 session “A Conversation on a Human Rights Perspective on the Response to COVID-19.”
