Monitoring Reproductive and Maternal Health Results in World Bank Projects: What Human Rights Can Offer

Building on GHHR’s existing partnership with the World Bank, the Program on Global Health & Human Rights began a new project in 2016 focused on strengthening the application of human rights principles in the monitoring of reproductive and maternal health (RMH) results in World Bank projects.

Financed by the World Bank’s Nordic Trust Fund this project will bring GHHR as a group of human rights experts together with World Bank staff to promote systematic attention to, and education of, how to incorporate human rights in RMH work moving forward.

The Program will provide practical guidance on how rights can be operationalized in RMH work after assessing how relevant human rights norms and standards might be when incorporated into existing World Bank processes—such as project identification, preparation, appraisal and implementation.
