Brazil has been internationally recognized for its successful, rights-based approach to HIV/AIDS. Now, unexpectedly, the country has an emblematic case of backlash. In this lecture, Vera Paiva, professor of social psychology and preventive medicine at University of São Paulo, will describe more recent sociopolitical shifts, as well as present results from an intervention study that tested the acceptability and effects of a multicultural human rights approach.
