“Global Change on a Local Stage”

March 2 @ 11:45 am - 1:00 pm

Free

Can global norms meaningfully impact issues Los Angeles has been struggling with for years? That is a question that USC students have been exploring through research partnerships with the City of Los Angeles’ Mayor’s Office over the last five years. Three prominent local, national, and global practitioners will reflect on lessons learned and paths forward for such research on how to integrate global norms into local policy. For example, do the Sustainable Development Goals offer ways to correct our deep health and economic inequalities? Should there be a right to health to empower peoples struggling to access medical care? Can truth and accountability processes contribute to addressing structures of racial injustice?

Join us this Thursday, March 2, for talks that address such questions and, more broadly, how global norms might help us reimagine policy here in Los Angeles and in cities around the world.
